Why I fell in love with makeup:

I have always had a huge interest in makeup and it continued to grow throughout the years. When I was a little girl, like many other little girls, I use get into my mother’s makeup bag and in attempt to look as beautify as my mother I would put on my mother’s eye shadows and lipsticks. At the time I most likely looked more silly than beautiful but I enjoyed playing with her makeup. I also use to be in a performing group as a Ballet Folklorico dancer when I was around 8 years old. In that group we were required to were makeup (Blush, eye shadow and lipstick) on days that we had performances and I absolutely loved it.
There are some people that believe women use makeup as a mask to hide themselves. Some people go as far criticizing each other for wearing makeup. Some may say little things like only ugly people wear so much makeup or I don’t’ need makeup because I don’t need it because I am not ugly, ect. I use to hear this a lot at school while growing up.
Like so many other teenage girls, I struggled with acne and acne scars. This caused a lot of insecurity. I was embarrassed of the acne scars and felt really ugly. At the time my mother was selling Mary Kay makeup and showed me the magic of concealer and some foundation. I was completely amazed on how a little bit of concealer and bb cream can go a long way. This helped boost my confidence. At age 15 I was allowed to start using eye shadows, blushes, eyeliner, lipsticks, full coverage foundations, powders and all sorts of concealer. That was when makeup became a form of art, a passion and a confidence buster. Not only hide some imperfections but it helped me feel beautiful.
I learned how to do the most basic looks with eyeliner, eye shadow and blush. I would practice on my own face in my free time by playing with different color schemes and different brands. I later started watching tutorials and practicing on family members. By my sophomore year of high school I started wearing makeup every day.
Friends, family and people just in general began complementing me on how well my makeup looked. Even friends and family began to ask if I could do their makeup for certain events. I was even able to do my friends makeup for our prom. I really enjoyed doing everyone’s makeup and enhancing their great features. It is amazing to see how confidant they become when you enhance the best parts about them.
I therefore decided to take a makeup course where I learned different techniques and how to apply makeup to different shapes and skin tones. I learned that color schemes where important when dealing with makeup. What a client may be wearing will and can affect what color eye shadows someone should used based on what kind of look the client is looking for. I really enjoyed the course and I learned a great deal from it.
I wear makeup every day, from eye shadow to full-face foundation. I have been doing my makeup every day since I was 16. I love doing my makeup every day. It helps boost my confidence and gives me the feeling of professionalism and not like I just rolled out of bed.
